We recommend a short and beautiful travel by their wide streets
(the town is very small), to finish in the coastal on the bay
of Chaitén, with a spectacular view on the volcano Corcovado
2,300 meters high. |
Trips |
To
the lake Yelcho:
by the Southern Highway (fishermen's paradise). Leave Chaitén
to the south. After 6 kilometers you will see the cabins of the
river, to the 25 kilometers the bridge and the village El Amarillo,
with very good hostel. In both places they offer fishing trips
and some by horse that can last up to 5 days. After traveling
20 more kilometers you will arrive to Puerto Cárdenas located
in the northwest end of the lake Yelcho, where the river of the
same name is born. There there is lodging for fishermen, where
they offer trips by the lake of different duration (up to 6 days).
8 kilometers ahead is ‘Yelcho en la Patagonia', a tourist
complex that offers cabins, hotel, restaurant, beach and camping
site in the coast of the lake. From there they are organized fishing
programs since in the lake there are trout and salmon of incredible
sizes. Here they achieved the national record of fishing with
fly: a salmon of 17 kilograms!!. |
