What to do in Puerto Varas, Patagonia Chile

Places to visit in the city

The Church of Jesus' Sacred Heart, built in oak wood in 1915.
Puerto Chico, to the end of the Coastal Avenue, area of the biggest concentration of hotels and center of the night life with the best pubs and discos.
The Great Hotel and Casino of Puerto Varas, beside the old jetties, from where can be hired fishing trips or simply lake trips.
The Houses of Puerto Varas, declared National Monument. There are 8 houses located in different points of the city built in wood between 1910 and 1930.
To Ensenada: Beautiful trip of about 47 kilometers skirting the south of the lake Llanquihue by an asphalted road, with spectacular views on the lake and the volcanos Osorno and Calbuco. In the kilometers 7 and 8 you will find the beaches Niklitschek and Hermosa, the prettiest in the area. In the kilometer 17 you can rent a boat to enter to the lagoon La Poza, in the means of the forest. In the kilometer 21 is the outlet of the river Pescado, where we suggest to stop if you are a fishing lover. There are two complexes of cabins equipped with all the comfort, the most beautiful chapel in the lake, Río Pescado chapel, and a traditional Mill of Water dedicated to the wheat mill and worked by the water that falls on a wooden wheel. In short, until arriving to Ensenada you will be able to stop in a numberless of places, according to the tourist's preferences: there are more cabins, hotels, coffees, sale of marmalades and syrups of wild fruits, roasted meats, factory of creamy cheeses, beaches, fishing places, rent of boats, etc., and everything inside a mark of extraordinary beauty.
